Step aside pumpkin, apple is here! This homemade Apple Crisp Simple Syrup is made with brown sugar, apples and cinnamon to taste like the timeless fall dessert. Use this simple syrup to sweeten and flavour tea, coffee, ice cream and so much more.
In a small saucepan over medium-heat, combine brown sugar, water, apple juice, apple slices and cinnamon sticks. You can break the cinnamon sticks in half to get more flavour from them.
Bring it to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for 15 minutes. Stir the mixture occasionally to make sure the brown sugar dissolves completely.
Remove the apple crisp simple syrup from the heat and pour it through a fine mesh strainer to remove the apple slices and cinnamon sticks. The apple slices will be sweet and can be saved to use on top of ice cream, pancakes, waffles, etc. so they are not wasted.
Let the simple syrup cool completely before storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
