Chai Spiced Candied Almonds

A sweet, crunchy snack combining the flavours of masala chai with almonds baked in a sugar coating. These Chai Spiced Candied Almonds can be served on their own or with various desserts and appetizers. Also, this is a great edible gift idea!

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons chai concentrate
  • 2 cups almonds

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. 
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. 
  • In a separate small mixing bowl, whisk the egg white and chai concentrate until frothy. Add almonds to the bowl and stir until they are coated. 
  • Add the sugar and spice mixture to the bowl of almonds and toss until coated again. Spread the almonds evenly on the lined baking sheet. 
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, stirring the almonds every 15 minutes to help them bake evenly and prevent them from sticking to one another. Cool before serving or storing. These tea candied almonds can be stored in an airtight container or bag for 3 weeks.
