Matcha Green Tea Slushie

With just a few ingredients you can create a delicious slushie with the popular matcha green tea. Perfect for the hot weather!

Ingredients
  

For the Matcha Ice Cubes

  • 8 oz water
  • 2-3 teaspoons matcha green tea

For the Slushie

  • 1 cup matcha ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon real maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice

Instructions
 

  • For the Matcha Ice Cubes
    In a mason jar, scoop in your matcha green tea and add in cool water.
  • Seal with a lid and shake rigorously to get rid of clumps as much as possible while mixing it in well.
  • Pour the cool matcha green tea mixture into an ice cube tray.
  • Place in the freezer until solid. Once frozen, get ready to make a slushie!
  • For the Slushie
    Place the matcha ice cubes, cold water and your sweetener in a high-powered blender (or a blender strong enough to crush ice), cover and blend until you reach a slush consistency. If you prefer a thinner slushie, add more cold water. Be careful not to over blend as it will end up too runny. If this happens, add in more matcha ice cubes.
  • Pour in a glass and serve immediately (or else it will lose the slushie-like consistency!).
  • Store any leftovers in the freezer.
