Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Lapsang Souchong black tea loose leaf
  • 1/2 cup hot water ~ 95 degrees Celsius
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • more maple syrup and tea leaves for garnish optional

Instructions

  • 1. Add Lapsang Souchong black tea to a tea infuser and steep in hot water for 5 minutes, covered.
  • 2. While the tea is steeping, simmer milk on the stove top and froth with a handheld frother for about 30 seconds. If you have an electric milk frother/steamer, you can use that instead. If you don’t have any of these devices, you can whisk the warm milk in the saucepan by hand until it gets somewhat frothy.
  • 3. Strain the tea leaves when the tea is done steeping. Stir in pure maple syrup (real stuff only!).
  • 4. Top the smoky maple tea with the frothed milk. Drizzle more maple syrup on top of the latte and sprinkle with a pinch of crushed tea leaves (optional). Enjoy!
