This Apple Crisp Tea Latte was made for those breezy fall mornings. Sweet, gooey apples and warm cinnamon with caramel and a crunchy oat topping. It is like eating a piece of freshly baked apple crisp with a cup of tea!

Apple Crisp Latte – Tea Version

An apple crisp latte is a fall inspired beverage that is generally made with coffee or espresso, but my version uses a caffeinated tea instead. 

Starting with a freshly steeped black tea, this recipe uses homemade apple crisp simple syrup for the main flavour and sweetness. Warm milk froth is added and then drizzled with caramel and granola pieces for more apple crisp vibes. 

This Apple Crisp Tea Latte tastes exactly how you would imagine! The flavour is so similar to an apple crisp or apple pie.

Notes of rich brown sugar and stewed apples with cinnamon will satisfy your tastebuds. The garnish gives it that streusel crumble topping, too.

  • Black Tea: The base of this latte is a black tea. I like to use English breakfast tea or an orange pekoe tea bag. 
  • Water: Use freshly boiled water to prepare the black tea.
  • Apple Crisp Simple Syrup: Make this syrup at home with only 5 ingredients. Follow this apple crisp simple syrup recipe.
  • Milk: Any type of milk can be used. However, I recommend oat milk to add to the apple crisp vibes. Plus, it will be more similar to the apple crisp oat milk drinks at Starbucks.
  • Caramel Sauce & Granola: Garnish the latte before serving and/or enjoying!

In a mug, steep black tea in freshly boiled water for 5 minutes. Cover while steeping.

Strain loose tea leaves or remove tea bags, depending on what you use. Add apple crisp simple syrup and stir. Adjust the amount to taste.

Heat and froth milk until it almost doubles in volume. You can use an electric milk frother or learn how to froth milk with a handheld milk frother for this recipe. Top the mug of tea with the milk froth.

Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle granola pieces on top to garnish the latte. Enjoy!

In a glass with ice, add apple crisp simple syrup, steeped black tea and milk. Top with whipped cream. Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle granola pieces on top before serving or enjoying.

Yes, even though this latte is made with tea instead of espresso it is still caffeinated as it uses a black tea. I love it for a morning or early afternoon pick-me-up.

Can I make this latte without caffeine?

Yes, to do so I recommend using rooibos or honeybush tea for the base instead of black tea so it is naturally caffeine-free. You can also try this recipe with a decaffeinated tea, however there will still be a trace of caffeine.

Can this tea latte be made dairy-free?

Absolutely! To make it dairy-free/vegan friendly, use a dairy-free milk option. In fact, using oat milk is recommended if you want it to be more similar to the Apple Crisp Oat Macchiato at Starbucks.
