Layers of thinly sliced ham, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise and mustard form delightful finger sandwiches for any occasion. Ready in just 10 minutes, ham and cheese tea sandwiches are effortless to make!
Ham & Cheese Tea Sandwiches
Ham and cheese are the perfect pairing. Rich and salty ham is balanced by a sharp cheese like cheddar. It is a match made in heaven for tea sandwiches!
You don’t need to prep too much ahead of time for this tea sandwich either. When you trim off the crusts and cut it into finger sandwiches you have a delicious savoury course for afternoon tea. They are the perfect size for two or three bites!
However, you do not have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy this recipe or any tea sandwiches for that matter. Make a few for your own brunch, lunch or mid-day snack. Tea pairing is optional but highly recommended.
Ingredient Notes
- Bread: Thin sliced white bread is recommended.
- Ham: Black forest ham slices (smoked, if you prefer).
- Cheese: I use aged white cheddar cheese, but you can use any kind of cheddar cheese.
- Mayonnaise: These tea sandwiches start with a creamy spread so they are not dry.
- Mustard: Add some yellow mustard to the mayonnaise for a bit of acidity.

With a serrated knife, remove the crust and cut each ham and cheese tea sandwich into 3 rectangles or another shape, if desired. You should then have 6 finger sandwiches for tea time.
Serve and enjoy immediately!
