Hibiscus Tea Spritzer (Mocktail)

This Hibiscus Tea Spritzer is vibrant, zesty and tart. Sparkling water gives this tea infused mocktail the bubbly taste without the alcohol. Serve it for a special occasion, any time of the year!

What is Hibiscus Tea?

Hibiscus tea is a naturally caffeine-free tea that is made by steeping dried petals from the Hibiscus plant.

The taste is quite tart, most similar to cranberries. The colour is a gorgeous red. In fact, this herbal tea can be used in many recipes for a natural pop of red.

Hibiscus is also featured in my Layered Hibiscus Lemonade recipe on the blog.

What is a Mocktail?

A mocktail is a cocktail-style beverage that is completely alcohol-free! It is usually made with juice and soft drinks, but in this case hibiscus is used for a tea mocktail.

Tips & Tricks

hibiscus tea spritzer
  • Prepare the hibiscus tea in advance so it can chill longer in the refrigerator. The colder the tea, the slower the ice cubes will melt and water down the mocktail.

  • Let the sugar rim dry for a few minutes before adding the drink to the glass. Also, be careful when pouring so that the liquid doesn’t splash on the rim and melt the sugar.

  • If you’re not feeling a mocktail, you can easily make this into a cocktail by adding a shot of your favourite gin or vodka.
