Sweet and creamy roasted green tea based drink made with hojicha powder, milk and homemade white chocolate syrup. This white chocolate hojicha latte recipe is an indulgent treat with rich flavours similar to coffee but way less caffeine.
Why You Will Love This White Chocolate Tea Latte Recipe:
- It is made with just a few ingredients including real white chocolate, not just a flavoured syrup.
- You can make it hot for a comforting drink or iced for a cooling treat.
- The roasted green tea used in this latte is perfect for a coffee substitute (better than a white chocolate mocha!)
- If you don’t have white chocolate syrup at home, you can quickly make it from scratch.
- Low caffeine, so you can have it in the afternoon, too!
What does this white chocolate tea latte taste like?
The taste of this white chocolate tea latte is sweet and creamy with notes of cocoa butter. It is also toasty similar to coffee thanks to the roasted green tea powder.
Hojicha powder can have deep cacao notes, so this latte is almost like white chocolate meets dark chocolate, too.
White chocolate and hojicha are so delicious together. You can also try this combination with my green tea chocolate drizzled popcorn recipe.
Ingredient Notes
Hojicha Powder
For a deeper and more flavourful latte, this recipe uses hojicha powder instead of loose leaf or tea bags. Hojicha powder is similar to matcha but it is a roasted green tea. Find my hojicha powder recommendations below.
Hot Water
The water temperature for this green tea should be under boiling.
White Chocolate Syrup
Store-bought white chocolate syrup can be convenient to use but it’s actually really easy to make white chocolate syrup at home! Follow this 2-ingredient recipe here.
The white chocolate syrup is responsible for the flavour and sweetness, so you may want to adjust the amount used to your liking, too.
Milk
Dairy milk or oat milk are my favourite with hojicha lattes.
Whipped Cream & Ice
These 2 ingredients are needed if you are making an iced white chocolate latte, not hot.
