Pumpkin Spice Hojicha Latte

I shared my recipe for a pumpkin spice tea latte with matcha, but what about one for those that still want a dark, roasted flavour in their PSL? That’s where this Pumpkin Spice Hojicha Latte comes in!

Pumpkin Spice Hojicha

The best pumpkin spice latte tastes like actual pumpkins, not just spices, and that’s why there is real pumpkin in this recipe. But that’s not the only reason why this latte is special…

Instead of coffee, it’s made with hojicha powder. This is a roasted green tea powder.

That’s why I also like to call this a Roasted Pumpkin Spice Tea Latte! You’re not actually roasting pumpkins for this latte though. Instead, you’re getting that earthy flavour and toastiness from the tea.

What’s in a Roasted Pumpkin Spice Tea Latte?

hojicha tea and pumpkin spice

– Hojicha Powder
This green tea powder is the main feature for this pumpkin spice tea latte. It is what makes this no ordinary PSL, but a roasted pumpkin spice latte instead.

Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that is made by roasting either sencha or bancha green tea. This is why the leaves of this green tea are brown.

Hojicha Powder is made by grinding the roasted tea leaves until it is a fine powder.

It is a favourite fall tea so it makes sense to pair it with a popular fall flavour!

– Water
The water temperature should be under boiling.

– Milk
This hojicha latte can be made with any type of milk. I would just recommend using one that froths well.

– Pumpkin Spice Syrup
You can’t have a pumpkin latte without the real deal. The simple syrup used in this latte recipe is made with pumpkin puree and a blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves.

You will need to make this syrup before the latte. Click here for the easy recipe!
