What is Jasmine Green Tea?
Green tea is scented with either jasmine flowers or flavouring to make Jasmine Green Tea. It has a perfumed aroma and soft flavour profile with floral notes and hints of sweetness.
There are a few different ways tea can be scented with jasmine. Fresh jasmine flowers can be placed in a warm room with green tea leaves so they can absorb the floral essences or green tea can be blended with jasmine flowers, removing a few before drying the tea and packing. The latter is the cheaper method.
You can also find green tea leaves that may just be blended with a natural or artificial jasmine flavouring. I personally prefer the teas that are scented with real jasmine flowers though.
Jasmine tea can be made with various green tea grades and styles. You can find jasmine green tea made with long, slender loose leaves, small leaves for tea bags or even rolled into a small ball like the jasmine pearls in the photo above.
Other types of tea can be scented with the flowers to make jasmine tea. However, traditionally green tea leaves are used.
This tea infused mimosa recipe specifically uses green tea so keep that in mind when gathering ingredients.
What is a Mimosa?
A mimosa is an alcoholic beverage made with orange juice and champagne or sparkling wine. Traditionally, it is served in a champagne flute and often during brunch. But, it can also be served at formal events like weddings, afternoon tea, and first-class services.
A classic mimosa recipe uses a 50/50 ratio. However, the amount of wine or orange juice can always be adjusted depending on taste preferences.
Tea Infused Mimosa
Although it contains wine, a tea infused mimosa is different from tea infused wine. It simply consists of equal parts tea and champagne or sparkling wine plus a little bit of orange juice.
The first step to making a tea infused mimosa is preparing a tea concentrate.
A tea concentrate is essentially a very strong steeped tea because you are meant to dilute it before consuming. It is commonly diluted with water or milk, but in this case we are diluting it with champagne or sparkling wine.
Tea concentrates are often used when cooking with tea, too.
To prepare a tea concentrate, more tea leaves or tea bags are used than usual to steep in water.
Since the jasmine green tea is steeped double strength in this recipe, the floral notes are quite strong and not hidden behind the alcohol. You will be able to taste it throughout the mimosa!
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of champagne/sparkling wine should I use?
A dry sparkling wine is often used in mimosas. But, I recommend that you use a champagne or sparkling wine that you already like the taste of so you’ll have a great first experience with this tea mimosa.
Do I add champagne/sparkling wine or tea to the flute first?
The champagne or sparkling wine is added before the tea concentrate. This will help preserve some of the bubbles. The bubbles will also help to mix this drink, so avoid stirring, too!
Can I make a non-alcoholic jasmine green tea mimosa?
Yes, of course! In fact, see some options below.
Non-Alcoholic Options
You can enjoy this jasmine green tea mimosa alcohol-free, too! Simply replace the chilled champagne or sparkling wine with one of the recommendations below. The great flavours are still there with a mocktail version of this bubbly drink.

Jasmine Green Tea Mimosa Recipe
This recipes is separated into two parts: tea concentrate and mimosa. The tea concentrate is for 2 servings. The mimosa is for 1 serving. Simply repeat the mimosa steps to make the second one.
Here is what you will need:
For the Jasmine Green Tea Concentrate:
2 teaspoons Jasmine green tea leaves or 2 jasmine green tea bags
1/2 cup hot water (~80°C/176°F)
For the Mimosa:
1/4 cup chilled Champagne or Sparkling Wine
6 tablespoons orange juice
Orange slices, for garnish
Directions:
To begin, make a jasmine green tea concentrate. Steep Jasmine Green Tea in hot water (under boiling, around 80 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes, covered.
You can also cold steep the tea overnight instead. This will make the process a bit quicker if prepped the night before because you won’t have to wait for the hot tea to cool and chill before assembling the mimosa. Find green tea cold brewing instructions here.
Remove tea leaves or tea bags. Let cool then chill in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
Now that your jasmine tea concentrate is ready it’s time to put the mimosa together!
