I announced something on my Instagram end of June and I realized I have yet to share the exciting news here! You’re looking at the new Tea Curator (uhm, can you say dream title?!) for Amoda Tea. After years of being a fan of the Amoda Tea subscription box, this means I will now be the one to sample and select teas for subscribers each month. One of my many favourite things about tea is how it connects people. I love that this opportunity will allow me to connect with more tea lovers/makers! I recently finished curating my first box, which was their August box. While I’m in the middle of curating September’s box, I wanted to take some time to chat about Amoda & my new role.
Who is Amoda Tea?
“Amoda” means joy. peace. serenity.
Amoda Tea is a small team of tea lovers who care about sharing small-batch teas. They shipped their first Monthly Tea Box in late 2012 and have garnered a reputation for curating and featuring delicious, fun and unique teas. Their purpose is to make the the world’s best tasting teas more accessible. In addition to being one of my favourite tea subscription boxes, Amoda Tea also has their own line of matcha adaptogen elixir blends.
What does a Tea Curator do?
A tea curator samples many teas to select the perfect ones to sell. More specifically, with my role at Amoda Tea, I begin by scouring the interwebs for small to medium sized tea companies with unique and all-natural blends. Then I connect with tea companies, sample their teas, pick my favourites and place a bulk order for the monthly box.
Amoda Tea doesn’t just feature any and every tea! All of the teas that they include in their monthly boxes are sampled beforehand. This is how they decide if it’s a good fit for their box and subscribers. This is now my main responsibility! As the Amoda Tea Curator I’m steeping, sipping and reviewing handcrafted teas to make sure their subscribers get the very best.
About Amoda Tea’s Monthly Boxes
The first subscription service I tried was Amoda Tea’s monthly boxes and I loved what they have been doing since day one. You won’t find tea from a big brand in their boxes as they focus on highlighting small to medium sized tea companies only. I think that is one of the many things that make them stand out from the rest.
The teas featured are most often blends that were handcrafted in small-batches.
