Iced Matcha Latte

Get ready matcha lovers! Here comes your favourite way to enjoy the green tea powder this summer. You no longer need to wait in line for an overly sweet Starbucks iced matcha latte. Making it at home has never been easier and you can save yourself a few bucks, too. All you need is your favourite matcha (good quality is key), cold water, milk and, of course, ice. An iced matcha latte is refreshing, creamy and since you’re making it yourself, you can control the sweetness. Wake up and start your morning with this chilled pick me up, or take it on the go to help power through the day. Here is how to quickly “shake” up an iced matcha latte for yourself at home. No whisk, blender or heat involved!

Warning: Since this drink is so quick to make, it’s even more addicting!

How to Make Iced Matcha Latte at Home

Follow the step-by-step instructions below and you’ll be sipping on your iced matcha latte in no time! You can find the full recipe with measurements towards the end. Printer friendly!

Step 1: Make cold brew matcha. To do this, sift matcha into a jar or bottle. Add cold water, seal and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. You can also shake with ice, as that will help crush any matcha powder chunks.

Step 2: If you didn’t shake with ice, add ice into your jar or pour the matcha into a glass with ice.

Step 3: Slowly pour in the milk (watch the cool matcha + milk effect) and real maple syrup. Maple syrup (or any sweetener) is optional, but you really need to try it with maple syrup if you can! If you use a different sweetener make sure it is something that can mix well into a cold drink.

*If you want to make an Iced Vanilla Matcha Latte I recommend using vanilla almond milk! If you use sweetened milk, you may not need to add a sweetener to your iced matcha latte.

Step 4: Stir together & enjoy!

*Note: I prefer a lot more matcha than milk, which you may notice from the measurements below. This is simply because I want a strong matcha taste. If you want a creamier drink, just add more milk.

How to Make a Dirty Iced Matcha Latte

A dirty iced matcha latte is simply an iced matcha latte with espresso. So, to make this iced matcha latte dirty, add a shot of espresso to the recipe!

  1. I do this often, especially mid-afternoon as a pick-me-up. Although, I normally do not add a sweetener, I am going to give your maple syrup a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
