What’s In My Bag: Tea Edition

I travel with tea often. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes I just randomly find a tea I thought I misplaced months ago. However, I don’t just bring tea along when I’m going on long trips. I actually always have tea and other tea related products in my everyday bag. So, whether I’m heading to the grocery store, going out to eat, or even just walking to the post office, I bring tea along. What’s in my bag exactly? Without boring you with any typical stuff like wallet, phone and an embarrassing amount of receipts, here are all the tea related stuff you’ll regularly find in my bag. what's in my bag1. Loose Leaf Tea – When on the go, it can sometimes be difficult to get a good cup of tea. There are times that I will bite the bullet and use tea bags that are provided for me, but I always carry around loose leaf tea just in case. The type of tea in my bag changes from time to time, but for convenience, I’ll just toss in a sample size. I don’t usually walk around with 100 grams worth of tea in my purse.

2. Mascara (pigmented with black tea) – At first glance, this might seem like a non-tea related item in my bag. But, actually, this mascara is pigmented with black tea and while I originally got it because of the tea ingredient, it’s seriously the best (for anyone that was curious!) Truthfully, this isn’t always in my bag. Unlike the other items on this list, this item is usually in another bag I don’t always travel with, but will toss it in my main bag when needed. It’s worth mentioning as it does get a lot of use, and responding “thanks, it’s my black tea mascara” to compliments about my eyelashes truly is a great conversation starter.

3. Tea Flavoured/Infused Lip Balm – Lip balm is a must. Infused with tea is a sweet bonus. I have a mini stash of some tea flavoured lip balms and rotate them from time to time. Currently, you’ll find this Bare English Chai Tea Latte lip balm that I picked up from the RBG Tea Festival last year (thanks The Sugared Teacup!).

4. Tea Infused Mints – If I don’t have gum with me, you’ll find mints and they are usually tea infused. I started keeping these in my bag ever since I was introduced to tea infused mints. Currently, I have a chai theme in my bag, because like the tea flavoured lip balm, my tea infused mints are chai flavoured.

5. Teapot Key Chain – I’ve had this key chain for years! Some jewels have disappeared, but I can’t give it up. It was a gift from my sister (aka the person who started my tea addiction) and I think it’s the perfect way to dress up my keys.

6. Matcha (single serving) – This is the true sight of a matcha addict! I typically use these single serving matcha packs to add to a bottle/jar of water and shake for a quick cold matcha drink. However, lately I’ve been carrying them around to share with others who I run into and have a tea chat that often leads to all about matcha quality.

7. Tea Filters – If I’m carrying around loose leaf tea, I’m most likely also carrying around tea filters. This is especially helpful if I didn’t bring a tea tumbler with me on my travels. The last thing I want is to not be able to successfully make my tea someway because I don’t have any steeping method available.
