This Month in Tea // April 2018 Blog Round Up

Homemade masala chai is simmering in a pot on the stove, the sun is lighting up the kitchen, and I’m reviewing some blogs I have bookmarked throughout April. Last month brought celebrations for National Tea Day (UK) which I spent most of the day reading a book from one of my favourite authors and sipping tea. If you want to get some reading and sipping in today, then check out these blog recommendations. In this month’s blog round up, you’ll learn if matcha or energy drinks are better for long drives, meet some new tea related YouTubers and, of course, I had to include some delightful recipes for tea time. Happy reading!

Tea

Tea Curious | Matcha vs. Monster Energy: Which Is Better For Long Car Drives? – Monster Energy drinks were my go-to in first year of college. It’s embarrassing to admit that! A while back, Rie shared on Instagram that she was experimenting with the popular green tea powder and energy drinks. She wanted to see what would be most effective when it came to alertness, mental state and more for her long drive. The results are up on her blog now!

Tea Thoughts | Ceylon Infused Old Fashioned – After I shared my tea infused wine, Nazanin gave tea infused bourbon a try! She used Ceylon as it’s one of her favourites, and created this old fashioned recipe afterwards.

Cha Crusade | My Favourite Tea-Related YouTube Channels – I don’t watch tea-related YouTube channels enough, so it was great to find this list. I already watch Zhen Tea’s YouTube channel and a couple others on this list regularly, but it was nice to find some new to me channels as well!

Chai Your Luck | Iced Coconut Lime Green Tea – Cold brew and iced teas will be on my mind soon as the weather warms up. The flavours in this iced tea recipe also scream summer, so it’s definitely going to be made soon!

Tea in Spoons | 2018 Trip & Tea 101: Kyobancha – Another fabulous post from Connie during her internship in Japan! She introduces Kyobancha green tea to her readers and shares behind the scenes of harvesting and processing this tea.

Food

Girl Heart Food | No Bake Chocolate Chai Protein Balls – I love recipes with clean and simple ingredient like this one! No tea is involved, but the typical spices you find in a masala chai are the main flavours for this healthy treat. So, if you’re a fan, then I definitely suggest giving this recipe a try.

Sugar Love Spices | Pear and Ricotta Spelt Scones – Earlier this month I shared 10 delicious scone recipes from fellow bloggers, and then I came across this delicious recipe from Loreto and Nicoletta. Make sure you add this to your list of scones to make with fresh pears this summer!

Sift & Simmer | Green Tea & Cumin Seed Crackers – I’ve made homemade crackers twice before and both times it was infused with a long jing green tea.  This recipe is a bit different than the one I have used before, but I’m definitely going to try these with a long jing again!

Lifestyle

Fashion Story Teller | How I Make Tea Lattes At Home (VIDEO) – I’ve been on a latte kick lately, and that means I’ve been making a ton at home! I’m excited because I’m finally getting the hang of my handheld frother. I love this video Emily made showing how she makes her tea lattes at home. I found the video kind of soothing too with how it was edited!

I hope you enjoy this month in tea blog round up! Do you have a blog you think I should check out? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. The iced coconut green tea sounds like a treat! I’m going to wait for the weather to get a bit better in the UK but it’s one for the list.
