Tea Infused Mints from Sencha Naturals

I remember the days when I would walk to the corner store, buy a pack of mints and walk home already half way done them. It became hard to control myself when some of my favourite mint brands started to come out with different flavours and were essentially just candy. Nowadays, I look for mints for the freshen up when needed purpose, and make sure it’s not primarily sugar. As I started to review ingredient lists more often, I noticed some mints that included tea. Naturally, I had to try them and was pleased when I realized the variety of tea infused mints offered from a brand called Sencha Naturals.

After a trip to to Asia, the founder of Sencha Naturals, David Kerdoon, wanted to offer North America another way to consume tea, beginning with green tea mints and eventually other green tea drinks. A major plus I found with this brand was that they didn’t use refined sugar to sweeten their mints, but instead more natural options like stevia leaf extract and coconut sugar. Tea Infused Mints
Sencha Naturals has a selection of green tea infused mints that are flavourful, refreshing and can help conquer dragon breath. The tea that they use for their infused mints is an organic matcha green tea. The shapes of these tea infused mints are something worth mentioning. Unlike regular mints, these are artisan tea infused mints that are beautifully crafted into a shape of a tea leaf.

Below, I’m reviewing some of Sencha Naturals’ flavoured tea infused mints. All of these mints are made with whole leaf green tea and low in caffeine (3 mints = 1 mg). The tea is added as Sencha Naturals says it helps freshen breath naturally. This company also offers original tea infused mints, where it is unflavoured, and the matcha green tea taste is more prominent.

Tea Infused Mints

Cacao Coconut Mints

This is Sencha Naturals’ newest Limited Edition Artisan Mints. Chocolate and mint can be a tasty combination when done right. These cacao coconut mints have a creamy licorice taste. It reminds me of black licorice candies that have a white cream centre (can’t remember the name!), thus it seems more like a sweet treat to me. It’s tasty, but I wouldn’t typically reach for this tea infused mint flavour when I want something to freshen my breath.

Full ingredients list: Sorbitol, Organic Matcha Green Tea, Natural Coconut & Chocolate flavors, Cocoa Powder, Stevia Leaf Extract, Calcium Stearate (plant-based).

Pink Dragonfruit Mints

Wow! Right away these pink dragonfruit mints punch you with juicy fruitiness. It’s no surprise that this mint flavour reminds me of a refreshingly sweet, cold glass of fruit punch. The pink dragonfruit flavour is well balanced, as the mint is definitely still strong. There are even hints of ginger in this tea infused mint!

Full ingredients list: Sorbitol, Organic Matcha Green Tea, Dragonfruit & Ginger Extracts, Peppermint Oil, Stevia Leaf Extract, Calcium Stearate (plant-based)

Tropical Mango Mints

One thing that immediately comes to mind with this mint is the taste of bubblegum. Bubblemint! I really like the citrus aspect of this tea infused mint. I find that it cuts through the stevia, therefore, the sweetness is more subtle than strong.

Full ingredients list: Sorbitol, Organic Matcha Green Tea, Mango & Citrus Extracts, Peppermint Oil, Stevia Leaf Extract, Calcium Stearate (plant-based).

The following flavours are available in Sencha Naturals’ eco tubes that are compostable, biodegradable and recyclable. These are sweetened with unrefined coconut sugar, opposed to stevia leaf extract.

Cardamom Cinnamon

I was pleasantly surprised that these mints were quite mild. Just what I like. The thought of a cinnamon mint was a bit worrisome as I immediately thought of cinnamon hearts, which are not my favourite things in the world. On the other hand, cardamom is my favourite spice and I was happy that it was quite noticeable in this mint. It gave it a nice, warm kick.

Full ingredients list: Coconut Granules, Organic Matcha Green Tea, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Peppermint Oil, Calcium Stearate (plant-based).

Ginger Lemongrass

These ginger lemongrass mints are definitely true to their name. I was instantly welcomed with a strong punch of ginger, but there was a nice mellow lift from the lemongrass. I did find these mints a tad spicy, especially as the flavour lingers near the end. That could be a good thing though, because I know I’ll pace myself with them and not pop them in my mouth one after the other!

My Favourite Tea Infused Mints

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the mints listed above, but I was able to narrow down my favourite to two for different reasons. The Pink Dragonfruit mints are definitely at the top of my list when it comes to flavour. However, when it comes down to a fresh mint for a quick bad breath fix, the Cardamom Cinnamon mints are my go-to.

  1. Hello Lu Ann!

I’ve had these mints before and I don’t see them very often. It was cool to see them on your blog post. I had no idea that this brand had matcha latte mixes or matcha in their product line. Thanks for featuring them.

  2. I love these mints, but I have only found the original and the mango. I have to hide them from kids, or they will steal them. Love all the other flavors.

  4. These look great! I would love to give them a try. I love the variety of flavors. If I was to create a new flavor it would be Acai Berry (but there might be a reason I’m not in charge of making new flavors).

  5. Bamboo Leaf Tea mints. it’s super good for the immune system, strenghtens bones, nails and teeth, and makes hair shiny and grow faster. I drink this tea daily.

  6. A few years ago, Tea Forte had a yuzu mint that I found at a small artisanal food store. I fell madly in love with them and savoured them for as long as I could. I was unable to get more as my family had moved away from that artisanal store and getting them shipped from Tea Forte direct would have been too expensive. Now they no longer make any mints at all. So I’d love to have a green tea and yuzu mint once more!

  7. I have no idea. I can imagine mint tea but tea flavored mints…I just can’t wrap my mind around it or imagine the taste but I would love to win and try them out. My wife and I both like tea.
