Free Tea Tasting with Hello Tea Club

I appreciate a great tea subscription box every now and then. In fact, you can find some of my favourites right here. If you check them out, you may notice I have tried a lot in the past so when it comes to trying a new tea subscription box, I immediately look for something that makes it stand out. I’ve had tea subscription boxes that not only offer tea, but also offer treats, art, or other tea ware and accessories. The most recent company I tried, Hello Tea club, may consist of just tea but there was something different about their service that caught my attention.

Being a part of the Hello Tea club means you can try tea for free. Yes, you don’t pay anything when you subscribe to the monthly box! If that sounds a bit too good to be true to you, let me explain how this company works exactly.

With the great selection of teas you can get from a single tea subscription box, sometimes you’re bound to find a tea you really don’t enjoy and, therefore, not sure what to do with now. If you’re not trying to gift that tea to someone else it may be in your stash collecting dust right now.

I have definitely been in that situation before. No one wants to waste tea.

Hello Tea Club is trying to fix that problem.

So, yes you don’t get charged when you subscribe and you don’t get charged when they send you their monthly box that consists of 3 teas (2 ounces each) with sample packs of each. Instead, when your box arrives you have 10 days to try the sampler packs of each tea and decide which ones you like and want to keep the full size of (and it’s acceptable to want to keep them all or even none, don’t worry!). Think of it as a free personal tea tasting!

Included in the box is a card with details of each tea and the cost should you decide to keep any or all. A prepaid label is also sent with your monthly box and you use that to send back the unopened full size packs of the tea you don’t want. Only then when Hello Tea Club receives the box with your unwanted teas is when they will charge you for the teas you decided to keep.

To give you an idea, here is what came in my first box…

Hibiscus & Rose Herbal Tea
Unfortunately, I don’t love hibiscus as a hot “tea” but it was summer when I received this tea so I decided to keep it and I definitely enjoyed this herbal tea iced. Aside from the named ingredients, there was also lemon grass, lemon myrtle and orange peel in this blend. Tart flavoured teas are my favourite to ice. $12.49 was the list price if you enjoyed the sample and wanted to keep the 2 ounce pack.

Japanese Matcha Tea
I’m pretty picky when it comes to matcha to drink traditionally. I enjoyed this matcha more when adding to my morning smoothies, lattes or even matcha slushies. $15.49 was the list price if you enjoyed the sample and wanted to keep the 2 ounce pack.

Lemon Green Tea
The green tea used in this blend was sencha and it also include lemon peel and lemon flavouring. I sometimes associate this type of blend as a tea to drink when sick.  The combination with a bit of honey is so soothing. However, I was surprised that this one was more like sweet lemon drop candies and had me wanting more. $12.49 was the list price if you enjoyed the sample and wanted to keep the 2 ounce pack.

Keeping all 3 teas means you also get 10% off the entire box. So the total for this month’s subscription box from Hello Tea Club was just over $36. If you love tea subscriptions but find yourself in the situation of getting too many teas your taste buds just don’t like, then this subscription box may be worth looking into.
