What Blogs to Read this Month in Tea // June Round Up

June marked the World Tea Expo and with that followed a lot of coverage. It took place middle of the month and while I could not attend thankfully many bloggers did to share their experiences with us all. I shared a few recap posts in this June round up, but if you want to see more bloggers’ thoughts, Nicole Martin of Tea For Me Please has a round up dedicated just to World Tea Expo stuff (and another is coming end of this week). Other features in this round up include a piece defining specialty tea, a recipe for tea roasted rhubarb and much more.

Tea

Tea Lover Blog | Lasting Impressions from the 2016 World Tea Expo – A well written and detailed post about some vendors, seminars and after expo events. I love how the blog post is also organized with some of the writer’s own awards to give out.

Life Is Better With Tea | What is Specialty Tea? – If you have heard the term specialty tea and wondered what that may be exactly, Mary Ann has a great overview on the meaning.

Steep Stories | The Return of the Fellowship to World Tea Expo – Yet another great round up of the World Tea Expo from this month. Geoffrey takes us with him on his first official day at the expo that was certainly jam packed. He shared a couple seminar discussions, vendor experiences and more.

Tea Happiness | Reflections on The World Tea Expo: Day 1/2 – Sara documented her first time at the expo in this part 1 of more reflections to come and I can’t wait to read the rest. I like that she even included her moments of how she traveled with tea on a plane. I may just have to copy her style here next time I’m flying!

Food

Kitchen Heals Soul | Multigrain Waffles with Tea Roasted Rhubarb – This recipe instantly made me want to go out and buy a new waffle iron. Rhubarb is something that we get a lot of and I’m limited to ideas of what to make with it. If I don’t make jam, we freeze it to use in iced teas later on. Thanks Janice for providing me with another delicious way to use up the vegetable and with tea, too!

Love & Olive Oil | Horchata Boba – If you’re already a fan of bubble tea then this recipe may be just what you need to try next. This is a milky drink made from ground rice and the additional of boba pearls.

Morgan Shupe | Tiramisu Cheesecake (Vegan + GF) – Yes, this is a tea blog and I’m sharing a recipe that uses coffee…oops. But, tiramisu is delicious and with my Italian background, I can’t say no! Vegan “cheesecake” is actually easier to make than it seems and so worth it in the end. I love that this one doesn’t need to be kept in the freezer, too.

Lifestyle

Maple Alps | Women of Intention Week Seven: Simplici-tea – Amanda started a neat series on her blog where she interviews women and discusses intentionality in areas of life such as friendship and fitness. I was honoured to be featured for a simple living piece where, of course, tea played a role.

Foreign Geek | Beginner’s Guide to Tea Leaf Reading – The Melbourne Tea Festival happened the end of last month and while it was only a one-day event, they had a packed day of workshops to attend. This one workshop that NaNa shared was definitely one I wish I could have been at. I’m hoping there will be a workshop similar at the next Toronto Tea Festival. Until then, referencing this post for a step-by-step at home tutorial is a must.

Enjoy the blogs from this June round up! Do you have a blog you think I should check out? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Hi Lu Ann,

I came upon your site as I was looking at my google analytics links to my site. I just wanted to thank you for the mention of my post on Specialty Tea. Your site is beautiful by the way. I just started my tea blog a year ago, so blogging is fairly new to me but I’m really enjoying it. Thanks again!
