Create Sweeter Tea Moments with Chambre De Sucre + Giveaway

I have a confession to make. To this day, I still sometimes add sugar to my tea. I know it is partly because of my uncontrollable sweet tooth, but also because of the memories I have from when I first started to get into tea. This comes to mind at a time like this because tomorrow I’ll be another year older. Tomorrow I’ll be going into my seventeenth year of tea steeping and sipping. Mind you, I was quite young in the beginning and I definitely didn’t start with a first flush Darjeeling or a sheng puerh.

Starting at the young age of 7, tea was always a beverage I would have during a special moment shared with my mother and sister. I’d pick out my mug of choice, a strawberry flavoured black tea bag from a wooden box and wait until the kettle would sing. I would treat my tea time like an exquisite afternoon tea party with cute little biscuits and, of course, milk and sugar to compliment my cuppa.

With pinkies up, each sip made me feel like the connection with my family grew more. At the time, I didn’t really think tea would be my life but I knew it felt like something that was more than just a drink for a boost of energy or to feel like a fancy grown up. Fancy was never something I really considered myself to be. I was perfectly content with a commercial tea bag, two percent milk and white refined sugar. While I do enjoy finer quality of teas today, I still find the joy in the most simplest of things. It was the company that meant more to me and the reason for smiles. It was more than just a steeped beverage. It was a link connecting us all together.

Tea Time with Chambre De Sucre
This moment reminds me of how Lisa from Chambre De Sucre describes her sweet creations as more than “just sugar”. With a sentimental value behind them, Chambre De Sucre is the home for elegant sugars that are handcrafted by one of the oldest family-owned businesses in Japan. You can choose to drink your tea straight, or add a different sweetener of choice to satisfy your craving, but these sugars truly are more than something you add to adjust a taste. They create memories.

Up until now, I had always lived vicariously through iHeartTeas’ photos she regularly shared of her tea parties with her daughter that included a few of these sugars. Whether she was serving her own handcrafted tea blends or a favourite from another tea company, there was a reoccurring theme – appreciation. The colours and shapes of the Chambre De Sucre’s sugars help you to slow down and really appreciate the amazing beverage and who you are sharing it with. At some point then, I realized these artisan sugars are another link to a lasting connection brought on by tea.

Tea Time with Chambre De Sucre

The one issue I have with sugars like these is that they are too pretty for me to want to consume. I wish to store them and have them out for tea time as a decoration to admire with the usual sugar nearby to use. However, after the first use, I realized this is exactly how a tea time, personal or shared, should be. While I am usually appreciating the beauty of the liquid the tea leaves have provided for me, Lisa added another touch of sweetness with the products Chambre De Sucre provides. There is sort of a Zen moment that may occur when using the sugars as you will catch yourself patiently watching the cube to dissolve, followed by the graceful flower bouquet that eventually separates and dances in the tea on its own.

Perhaps something on the fancy side like these may seem to be most ideal for special occasions only. But, in the words of Chambre De Sucre, “carpe diem and treat yourself.” Every day is a special day and you should add a little more sweet moments in your life.

I feel like Oprah today. I have been wanting to share a post like this for some time and I decided today was the best day to do so as it marks one month since I launched the new blog design. With tomorrow being my birthday, I wanted to give back and kind of replicate Oprah’s Favourite Things with today’s Friday Favourite post. I’d like to thank each and every one of you for supporting me everyday by reading my blog, sharing it, commenting and even taking time to connect with me outside of it.
