Hi Jim, I would try serving the lighter black teas first and make your way up to the bold ones :)

I'm so happy to hear that! White bread seems like another great option. Thanks so much for sharing your tea tasting experiences. And yes, it is definitely okay that you quoted my post on your blog. I'll be sure to check yours out :)

I want to thank you for posting this. I was mid-taste test when I realized I needed to wash the taste of a tea out of my mouth right away. Your blog came up and 'boom' I was back in business with chunks of white bread (I had no almonds or plain crackers) to kill an overpowering tea. I hope it is okay, I quoted your post above and gave a link to your page from mine.

I am not traditionally a tea blogger, so please take my novice status into account when you read that I did not actually understand to 'slurp' the tea before I read your article. Your post was instrumental in giving my tea tasting any semblance of authority.

Wonderful that your husband has coffee tasting experience. I would imagine it would be fairly similar to tea cupping as well. I agree, it's fun and super interesting to see how flavours can change. I would definitely check with your local tea house. Chances are they are tea tasting in the back to find the perfect leaves to sell :)

I've never done a tea tasting but would love to do it. My husband works in coffee and I have done a couple of cuppings (tasting) and its so fun to see how the flavors change. Definitely going to try to do this with tea...maybe the local tea house will host one?! Thanks for this post you inspired so many ideas.

Thanks for sharing, Charlie! I've never thought of that before. I may have to test it out myself :)
