Tea Review: Kettle Town’s New Paradise

“Kettle Town was born from the quest to make a blend of chai which in turn began our fascination with flavours and aromas. Our gourmet flavoured teas are encouraged to be accompanied by desserts which accentuate, enhance or contrast the notes of each blend.” Here’s a delicious black tea worth sharing.

Ingredients: Black tea, hibiscus, rose-hip, orange and caramel flavours.

Steep Time: 5 minutes

First Sip Thought: “Needs to be paired with chocolate.”

Smell: This tea arrived to me in a sample pack so it did not have a list of ingredients on the package. I was trying to guess from the look of it what it could consist of. It wasn’t until I actually opened the package to smell the tea and could tell right away that there was an abundance of caramel along with orange notes and a decadent, light floral aroma.

Taste: Similar to the smell, I think the caramel is the most powerful flavour in this blend by a little bit. For some reason, I thought it would be a similar taste to Terry’s Chocolate Oranges but it wasn’t for me. Although, Kettle Town recommends pairing this tea with decadent chocolate desserts for an intense flavour combination and when I did that I started to be reminded of those chocolate oranges and closed my eyes to enjoy. However, I do think that this tea is great on it’s own as well. I love that it has a natural sweetness with a hint of tang from the rose-hip and hibiscus. I feel that these two qualities pair together well. *You can also find a recipe from Kettle Town using this tea for a delicious iced tea on their website here.
