How to Tea: Storing

Image from: Teavana.com
Like all natural items, tea has a shelf life. Each tea varies and it’s always best to check with the tea shop you purchased your teas from on how long it’ll last. However, the duration of their shelf life can really depend on how you store them.
First thing is first, do not ever refrigerate or freeze your teas. While for food items this may help them last longer, it does the exact opposite for teas because the enemies of tea are air, moisture, and light. To preserve teas freshness as long as possible you should always store it in a cool and dry place. Consider a reusable pouch that you can push excess air out of before closing, or even an airtight container which may work best. Another enemy that teas can have are strong smelling foods. Teas are known to absorb other odours quite easily, so it is important to keep it away from strong scents. Follow these simple storing steps and you’ll be enjoying your favourite cup of tea for longer than you may expect (unless of course you drink it all up!).
