“Since the 1920s Falcon Enamelware has been an icon of British home life. Ice white with a distinctive blue rim, it is instantly recognizable as a design classic. But as well as timeless elegance, Falcon Enamelware has enduring strength. Enamelware is porcelain fused onto heavy-gauge steel, giving it many admirable qualities – durability, smoothness and chemical-resistance.”
There is no doubt that Falcon Enamelware knows how to present itself. All of their products are beautifully designed for any household. I had a great opportunity to give their teapot & mugs a try and choose them in the gorgeous Pillarbox Red colour. They also are available in their traditional White with Blue Rim, and Pigeon Grey.
The teapot and mugs are beautiful with a rustic feel that reminds me of drinking in simpler times. They are the perfect size. The teapot is 12cm tall and holds 1000ml which makes it quite easy to steep the tea leaves directly into the pot of warm water. The mug is 8.5cm tall and holds 350ml.
I was a bit disappointed to find the material retains heat a little too well. It’s almost as if it is too thin because it makes it way too hot to hold, even the handles! I have to use a towel to grab onto just to pour the teapot contents into my mug and even then I had to wait forever for it to cool down because it was too hot for my lips to bear. This was a bit surprising because Falcon Enamelware explains that their teapot and mug is manufactured from heavyweight steel and thicker enamel for extra durability. However, when it’s cool enough to handle than it’s the perfect temperature anyways so it makes for a more intuitive tea drinking session
Overall, I think it’s a wonderful looking product, but maybe focus on another model that will be a bit thicker and not just for extra durability but for hot contents like what it is made for: tea.
