Today’s morning steep is brought to you by Yogi Tea’s Green Tea Energy blend.
When I usually drink a cuppa, I don’t always go “green.” I had a survey on my blog asking readers what they’re favourite type of tea was and it was a tie between Black & Green tea. When I talk to others (who aren’t a huge tea fan and only have a cup or two here and there) their first thoughts of green tea are:
“Yuck!”
“Doesn’t taste like anything to me.”
“Isn’t that only for if you’re sick?”
“I never know how to brew it properly so I don’t bother.”
And yes, my personal favourite: “It’s not my cup of tea.”
When I first started to drink tea, I thought most of the same things. However, I was just about seven then and all I really wanted was flavoured tea to satisfy my young, sweet tooth. I think it’s so great that some companies, or tea bloggers focus directly on green tea. The many different benefits, the endless flavours you could indulge in, where it originated from, etc.
When I say the word “Matcha” to friends…well that’s a whole different story. Just last year is when my
boyfriend and I started to get into Matcha. I’m still not a major fan of it just yet, but I think it’s because I have yet to find the perfect brand of it. I’ve tried Teavana’s, David’s Tea, and more. He adores them all though and partially has to do with the fact that he’s big on health products. Matcha is a fine ground, powdered, high quality green tea and not the same as tea powder or green tea powder. Extremely high in antioxidants. I am not the greatest to explain Matcha, but if you have any other questions regarding it please contact
Matcha Source (@MatchaSource) as their resources have always helped me learn the basics.
Any other reasons to drink green tea you can think of to add to this excellent list?
