cup of tea & a deep conversation with nicole martin

Tea Interview featuring Nicole Martin
Nicole Martin is the author of the tea blog Tea for Me Please. I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Nicole about her history and her future adventures with tea. She continues to expand her knowledge in the world of tea as you sit, relax and sip your warm cup while learning more about her.

Sip, Savor & Enjoy!

1. How & when did you first notice your love for tea?
I’ve been drinking tea for as long as I can remember. My whole family are big tea drinkers. For most of my life it was your run of the mill black teabags until I saw an advertisement for flowering teas. I ordered a starter kit and loved them so much that I started googling tea like crazy. I had no idea there was so much that I was missing out on.

2. Tell me about your blog. What/who inspired you to create a blog dedicated to tea? and are there any bigger plans in the future for teaformeplease.com
When I first got into tea I wrote reviews for Teaviews. It was a fantastic way to try many different kinds of tea and expand my palate. After a while I realized that there were some things I wanted to post other than reviews so I made a Blogger account. This was back in October 2008. I started it almost as a personal tea log for myself and I was really surprised when I actually started getting readers.

3. What is one of your earliest and favourite tea related memory?

One of my most favorite tea memories is getting to stay up past my bed time to sit at the kitchen table and sip tea with my mom.

4. If you had to choose, what would you say is your favourite cup of tea?
Such a tough question! I’m definitely partial to oolongs. There’s so much variety in just that one category. I could drink a nice dan cong or milk oolong every day and never get tired of it.
5. If there was one place in this world you could travel to experience their tea culture, where would it be?
I’ve always dreamed of traveling to China to go on a tea tour. The photos that I’ve seen of other people’s experiences look absolutely amazing. It would the trip of a lifetime.

6. What does tea mean to you?

Tea means relaxation and slowing down to enough to forget about all of the little stressors that life brings.

7. Any last words you would like to say about your life and tea?

The one thing that I never thought tea would bring me is friends from all over the world. Whether they are my readers, fellow tea bloggers or tea retailers; I’ve met the most amazing and interesting people from many walks of life. If it weren’t for tea I never would have had that opportunity.
*If you or someone you know would like to be interviewed please contact me to set something up. Thanks!

  1. Hey Lu Ann,

I enjoyed reading your interview! One thing, though: it looks like you or Nicole linked to the wrong site for Teaviews (unless they decided to go for a major format switch :).

    Happy sipping!

  3. Ha ha, I know! No problem.

Just out of curiosity, are you a fan of Liu An tea? I just thought, with a name like yours… (If you haven't tried it, you might check out this nice blog post from Red Circle Tea: http://www.redcircletea.com/blog/?p=243 .)

And, coincidentally, I'm drinking some Liu An Gua Pian as I write this. (Will wonders never cease? 🙂

    Talk to you later,
