What Blogs to Read this Month in Tea // May Round Up

The last few days have been iced tea galore for me, especially with the high temperatures lately. I’m currently sipping on an iced silver needle and going through my BlogLovin’ feed to catch up on some blogs. I feel like there was an out pour of amazing tea related content this month. This was easily one of the hardest monthly round ups I had to put together. You’ll find a recap from a tea festival that happened earlier in May, tips when buying tea and of course, tea recipes that are always too delicious to not share. Check all that and more in the round up below now or save this page to catch up later.

Tea

Notes on Tea | 12 Chinese Tea Cultivars – As an optional assignment for a tea program Georgia is enrolled it, she created a detailed chart outlining Chinese tea cultivars. How many of the teas on this list have you tasted?

Steep Stories | Several Moments of Matcha Madness – Geoffrey shares his matcha moments with one of my favourite matcha brands, Mizuba Tea. Aside from the hilarious video included, what really peaked my interest was his experiment with preparing matcha in a gaiwan. I’ll probably make a huge mess, but it seems like something I need to try at least once for fun.

Tea For Me Please | What I Look For When Buying Tea – Unfortunately, there are not a lot of local options for myself to purchase great tea. Most of my shopping is done online. Thankfully I have that option but it can be a challenge at times when you can’t examine a tea in person. Nicole offers some excellent tips to think about before you hit the check out button!

My Thoughts Are Like Butterflies | Meet My Tea Gear: Thrift store Edition – Alexsia seems to always have the best luck in thrift stores for tea finds. I was thrilled to see that she shared a post dedicated to some of her beautiful pieces that have great history behind them. Hopefully I have some luck like her next time I make a thrift store visit!

Food

Not Starving Yet | Midwest Tea Festival 2016 – Kansas City, MO – I wish it were possible to attend every single tea festival. Thankfully, there are bloggers all over the world who I can count on posting a recap of the events just like Jenn did here for the Midwest Tea Festival earlier this month. I love that they did a Steepster meet up! I think a meet up is in order for the next Toronto Tea Festival now.

The Kitchy Kitchen | Adult Iced Tea – Alcohol tastes better with tea, that’s always been my motto. So whenever I come across a tea cocktail, I’m always intrigued as there are many ways to mix one up! This one starts with infusing earl grey tea into gin for about a week.

Shiso Delicious | Matcha Pearls & Thoughts on Tea Quality – It’s always exciting seeing food bloggers create with tea but also be more aware of the quality of the tea they are using. Sara shares some tips from her matcha buying experiences and also a fabulous recipe for almond cashew matcha pearls.

Misc.

Eat This Poem | 18 of the Best Pieces of Writing Advice – This post could not have come at a better time. May was a month of several writing deadlines, work and personal, and this round up of excellent advice that Nicole put together was perfect. Whenever you’re experiencing writers’ block, check this out. Especially advice #15 😉 haha.

Enjoy the blogs from this May round up! Do you have a blog you think I should check out? Let me know in the comments below!
