Blueberry White Tea Granita Recipe

After the winter season we had I don’t really want to complain that it’s ever too hot this summer. From iced tea, to other cool tea treats, I will do everything possible to cool down and enjoy this weather. Below I am sharing a recipe I used to create a refreshing, light treat called granita. The best way to describe granita is that it somewhat resembles sorbet or Italian ice. It’s simply flavoured ice that is semi-frozen.

Blueberry White Tea Granita

Ingredients

Optional:

  • sweetener of your choice (ie. honey or sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon of topping of your choice (ie. orange, lemon zest or whipped cream)

Directions

1. Fill your tea kettle with the water and let it boil.
2. Place Argo Tea’s Blueberry White tea into a tea infuser in your teapot.
3. When the water has finish boiling, pour it over your tea leaves and let them steep for 5 minutes.
4. Remove your tea infuser so that the leaves are no longer steeping in the water. You can re-steep those leaves for a cup for yourself as well.
5. While the water is still warm, add in a sweetener of your choice if you’d like. Use as little or as much as your taste buds guide you to and then stir so that it melts nicely into the tea.
6.  Grab a pan (roughly 9×13 inch depending on amount of tea you made) and pour your tea into the bottom of the pan.
7. Place the pan of tea on a leveled shelf in the freezer for about 1 hour. Remove and use a fork to scrape any ice crystals that have
formed on the side or bottom of the pan. Return to freezer and repeat
scraping every 30 minutes for 3 to 4 hours.
8. Scoop the granita into a bowl and top with anything you’d like or enjoy it plain and simple.
9. Enjoy & stay cool!
If you give this lovely treat a try then be sure to share with me via social media or in the comments below. Feel free to experiment with other teas as well.
